The Problem: Trust Is Fragile

The physical collectibles market relies on opaque, centralized databases. If an internal error or a bad actor secretly alters a grade, changes a serial number, or swaps a photo in a private server, the collector is the one who suffers. Trust is entirely dependent on a single company's internal security. In a global market where assets are traded across borders and held for generations, collectors deserve absolute certainty.

Our Mission: Mathematical Integrity

SatGrade was built to solve the oracle problem in physical verification. We do not grade cards. We build the cryptographic infrastructure that makes grading records tamper-proof for the community. We provide the collectibles ecosystem with a verification engine that anchors physical assessments to the most secure network on earth: Bitcoin.

How We Work: The Standard of Proof

We serve as the independent bridge between expert grading laboratories and passionate collectors. When a partner laboratory seals a collectible, SatGrade's protocol activates:

Secure Data Capture.

High-definition imagery and sub-grade metadata are instantly captured and secured, with zero workflow disruption for the lab.

Chip Bonded Before Sealing.

An encrypted NFC chip is bonded inside the slab before it is sealed. The lab taps it once to bind the chip to its certificate, making the physical object and its record inseparable from that moment on.

Daily Cryptographic Anchoring.

Every night, we aggregate the digital fingerprints (SHA-256 hashes) of all newly graded slabs into a single Merkle tree. We then inscribe the Merkle root directly into the Bitcoin mainnet.

Tap to Verify, Anytime.

Anyone holding the slab can tap it with a phone. The chip answers with a one-time cryptographic signature that proves the physical object is genuine, resolved instantly and independent of the nightly batch. Replayed links are flagged automatically.

How Independent Verification Works

Every SatGrade certificate can be verified without trusting us. Here's how the math works:

When a card is graded and sealed, we compute a SHA-256 hash from the certificate data: serial, card name, set name, card number, grade, and sub-grades (centering, edges, corners, surface).

All certificates from that day are combined into a Merkle tree. The root of that tree is inscribed to Bitcoin mainnet in a single OP_RETURN transaction.

Each certificate stores its own Merkle proof, the path of sibling hashes connecting it to the on-chain root.

To verify independently: hash the cert data yourself using SHA-256 with the format

serial|card_name|set_name|card_number|grade|centering|edges|corners|surface

Walk the Merkle proof to reconstruct the root. Compare against the root stored in the Bitcoin transaction. If they match, the certificate is untampered.

By anchoring the exact state of a card at the moment it was graded into Bitcoin, we create an immutable record that protects the collector's investment.
